Opening reception with artist on Friday, Feb 24, 2012 6-8pm
The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) at Finn Center in Mountain View presents, “Tony Photos” by Tony Grant. The exhibition will be in CSMA’s Mohr Gallery from February 10 –April 1, 2012, with an opening reception with the artist on Friday, February 24, 6-8 pm.
The exhibition will feature approximately 25 photographs of the world as observed by Tony Grant. Working in the documentary tradition, Grant moves through the world with a curious eye and camera-ready hand, converting emotional experience into a flat, physical object. He has been obsessed with photography for over forty years, taking his intuition and visual sensibilities into every picture taking moment.
Tony Grant’s practiced eye and intuition transform everyday moments. He states, “Though each photo’s content and selected moment varies, the imagery continuously depicts what I find to be ironic, humorous, ambiguous, absurd and beautiful in the world around me.”
Grant received his MFA in Photography from Stanford University and has been an Instructor in Photography at the University of California at Santa Cruz , Humboldt State University, Hartnell College and Stanford University. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout California as well as New York City including: The Loom Gallery, Brooklyn NY; the Museum of Art and History, Santa Cruz CA; and Rena Bransten Gallery, San Francisco, CA.
