The Individual Gifts Officer will develop, implement and lead all components of a strategic fundraising plan for individual gifts below $1,000, including prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The Individual Gifts Officer is also responsible for supporting the annual contribution goals and development activities for major individual giving to CSMA. This position will work closely with the Director of Development and Executive Director in managing these donor relationships.
Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

Annual Fund Campaigns: Lead all direct mail fundraising campaigns targeting individuals. Plan, manage and execute all aspects of direct mail appeals, telefundraising, online fundraising and other annual membership campaigns, including list management and segmentation strategies; data integrity.

Fundraising Events: Supervise the planning and execution of all major donor cultivation and fundraising events. Ensure success of all fundraising events by leveraging relationships with current individual donors to significantly grow the number of individuals supporting the organization.

Prospecting and Cultivation: Lead prospecting and donor research for all individual donors. Strategize and implement cultivation techniques to inspire prospective supporters to become donors at all levels.

Strategic Planning & Analysis: In coordination with Development Director, plan and create goals for individual giving and implement strategically. Manage progress towards funding goals with the use of GiftWorks software. Provide quarterly analysis and reports on progress toward goals.

Donor Stewardship: Improve donor retention, and increase number of donors through a meaningful stewardship strategy.

Development Operations: In coordination with Development Associate, acknowledge all donations from individuals, including monetary, services, and in-kind. Maintain data standards for individuals in GiftWorks donor database.

Other Duties as Apparent or Assigned: Work with the Director of Development and Executive Director on projects as assigned. Work closely with other development department staff on crossover projects.

- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Problem solver; flexible and easily adaptable to change
- Attention to detail, including proofreading and project follow-through
- Strong computer skills, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and donor database software
- Previous experience organizing fundraising events
- Ability to work nights and weekends as an essential part of performing job duties
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
- A minimum of three years’ fundraising experience in individual giving required
