Classroom Music Teacher

Responsibilities and Functions:

Qualified teachers with a background in working with specific age levels teach:
  • Teach classroom music in grades K – 6 in Santa Clara and San Mateo county schools.  Classes meet during the school day.
  • Follow the CSMA music curriculum and CA State Standards
  • Prepare students to participate in one or two public performances a year
  • Report to the Music in the Schools Director

Qualifications:

Music degree or equivalent.  Significant teaching experience and program development.  Knowledge of Kodaly methodology preferred.  Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Compensation

Competitive; depending on education and experience

About the Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) at Finn Center

The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) at Finn Center is the largest non-profit provider of arts education programs in Silicon Valley. Since its founding in 1968, CSMA has remained committed to providing Arts for All, regardless of age, level, background or economic means. The school provides: lessons, classes and camps; arts-in-the-schools and after-school programs; concerts, exhibits, and community outreach activities. In January 2004, CSMA opened the region's first-ever center for music and arts education in Mountain View.
