| James played his
first paying gig at age 14 and has performed thousands of times since
then. His music styles have ranged from acoustic folk to heavy rock,
via blues, jazz, ska and pop, while the venues stretch from the smallest
pub to a 20,000+ crowd. In recent years he has toured the US and
Europe many times. In the recording studio, he has been involved
in the recording of six full albums, as well as countless other projects.
James started giving guitar lessons while he was attending university.
After graduation, he set up his own teaching business. Along with
private lessons, he taught in local schools and for Music Box,
a support group for people with learning difficulties. Later he
became a full-time teacher in Devon, giving guitar lessons in schools
across the county. He recently taught guitar and composition at
Dayjams rock music camp in Palo Alto. His pupils have ranged in
age from 5 to 60 and from absolute beginners to highly advanced
players.
