Education
Elizabeth Goodfellow pursued her classical percussion studies at San Jose State University and Stanislaus State University, where she studied with Galen Lemmon. She has also participated in master classes with Christian McBride and Teri Lynne Carrington.
Performing and Teaching Experience

Beth has been a teacher at the San Jose Jazz Camp, Summer Music at Stanislaus, Hayward La Honda Music Camp, and various high school drum lines. Beth also performed over 150 educational shows as part of the San Francisco Symphony’s Adventures in Music program.

Beth served six years in the California Air National Guard Band of the West Coast. She is also an alumnus of the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) Sisters in Jazz quintet, with which she played at the 2003 IAJE convention, the Kennedy Center, and several European jazz festivals, including the North Sea Jazz Festival. Beth also has musical theater experience, including Westminster Theater.

Currently Beth travels the world with The Tenth Avenue Band (just recently returned from New Zealand) and the Mighty Aphrodite Jazz Band (recently back from performing on two jazz cruises). She continues to freelance in the San Francisco area.

At CSMA

Beth joined the CSMA faculty in 2007, teaching drumset and percussion.

Teaching Philosophy and Approach

Each student is different, and therefore requires a tailored approach to learning the instrument. Beth will work with the student to develop his or her unique voice, as well as build the technique necessary for musical self-expression.
