| Dan Nieckarz holds a BA in Music
from San Jose State University, where he studied jazz guitar and
jazz performance. He has studied privately with Steve Erquiaga, Rick
Vandivier, and Bruce Forman. |
| Performing and
Teaching Experience |
| Dan has 20 years of teaching
and performance experience, including performing professionally in
solo, combo, and big bands at numerous Bay Area venues. He has been
featured at Gordon Biersch, Hotel de Anza, the San Jose Jazz Festival,
and many other venues. |
| At CSMA |
| Dan has been a member of the CSMA
Music Faculty since 2002. He teaches private guitar lessons to students
of all ages and levels, as well as Intermediate and Advanced Jazz
Combo classes. |
| Teaching Philosophy and Approach |
| In his lessons, Dan focuses on
guiding students toward their musical goals. He presents guitar basics,
music reading, and music theory. Styles include jazz, blues, rock,
and popular songs. He uses guitar tab, chord charts, books, and handouts
to help facilitate the learning process. Familiar songs are used
to help students apply what they learn. Students are encouraged to
bring in musical selections of their choice. |
