Begin your music adventure with box violin & dowel bow. Learn basics: posture, bow & violin hold. Develop fine motor skills & coordination specific to violin playing through games & exercises. Foundation allows children to produce beautiful sounds when making transition to real violin. Bring notebook for lesson notes.

Private lessons are offered in Suzuki Recorder & Suzuki Violin for students as young as 4 yrs. Students also attend monthly group classes at no additional charge (time arranged by teacher). Shared/semi-private lessons also available by arrangement with teacher.
Kiddie Keyboard PrepAges 4-6
Recommended as the second class for students interested in piano, this class offers a positive, enjoyable intro to piano & basic music notation symbols (quarter note, quarter rest, half note, half rest, dotted quarter note, whole note, whole rest). Without using a real keyboard, class familiarizes students with correct piano fingering & proper hand position. Some singing & movement also included. All materials included in class cost. (Little Mozart Book 1-music lesson, discovery & workbook plus CD). Child must be age 4 by class start date & must be able to attend without parent/caregiver. Max: 12

Sound Sampler One-Day Workshops! Ages 5-13
Great opportunity for children considering private lessons to take a hands-on survey of instruments. No prior experience needed. Each session followed by Q&A with music faculty about instruments, curriculum, related topics. Parents/caregivers of all students are strongly encouraged to attend. Max: 25 per session
*Note: Early registration discount does NOT apply to Sound Sampler workshops.

Preview Sessions
Interested parents & students, whether registered or not, are welcome to attend free of charge any preview session on a space-available basis. No advance reservations; attendees admitted (first-come, first-serve) on day of preview session.
Special Enrollment & Reimbursement Policy: Students may enroll in Intro Music Classes, subject to space availability, either before or after preview session. Full tuition reimbursement — less $10 non-refundable registration fee & $10 processing fee — available to registered students in Intro Music Classes for 3 days following preview session. Note: Attendance at preview session is not required to be eligible for this special reimbursement policy.
Preview sessions are held one week prior to start date. Classes having a Preview Session are denoted with an *asterisk.

Musicianship for Young LearnersCore Curriculum Ages 5-6
For children currently taking private instrumental lessons. Reinforcement of skills, including note reading, rhythmic notation. Ear training/singing through musical exercises & games. Pitch awareness, rhythmic competency & appreciation for musical expression developed in a fun environment. Phrases, forms, meters introduced as well as some famous compositions & composers to give children a more complete picture of music. Children attend without parents/caregivers. Max: 12

Series of beg through adv classes to develop notation skills: key signatures, rhythm, scales, harmony. As appropriate, notation & other computer tech software are used. Make a sound track for an imaginary film or video! Write your story & action plot; add effects with foley sound; narrate & transform your voice in new ways; create music. Record sounds in the CSMA building, download public domain sounds from the web & integrate audio from your personal collection (iTunes, CDs, etc). Assemble, rearrange, transform & process using ProTools to make your unique track. Final project: class performance of sound track with storyboard or scene outline. Max: 8
