Free! Preview Sessions for Intro Music Classes

Classes with available FREE Preview Sessions show the preview's date and time beneath the class listing.

Interested parents & students, whether registered or not, are welcome to attend free of charge any preview session on a space-available basis. No advance reservations; attendees admitted (first-come, first-serve) on day of preview session.

Special Enrollment & Reimbursement Policy: Students may enroll in Intro Classes, subject to space availability, either before or after preview session. Full tuition reimbursement — less $10 nonrefundable registration fee & $10 processing fee — available to registered students in intro classes for 3 days following preview session.

Note: Attendance at preview session is not required to be eligible for this special reimbursement policy.

Kiddie Keyboard Prep Ages 4-5 yrs

Positive, enjoyable intro to piano & basic music notation symbols (quarter note, quarter rest, half note, half rest, dotted quarter note, whole note, whole rest). Without the use of a real keyboard, class familiarizes students with correct piano fingering & proper hand position. Some singing & movement also included. Adventures in Singing Core Curriculum Ages 7-9

Love to sing? Join us to sing age-appropriate songs (unison singing & rounds), learn proper posture & breathing for singing, pitch-matching, rhythm, musicianship & beginning note-reading. This introductory choral experience is a stepping stone to Peninsula Children's Chorale. No prior experience necessary. Enjoy participating in this performance-based chorale singing excellent, age-appropriate choral literature in a variety of genres. Rehearsals include vocal warm-ups, correct posture & breathing, musicianship skills, memorization, & presentation. During preview session or first class, each child will be given a brief, individual placement audition to assess pitch-matching, vocal range, rhythmic patterns, & solo singing of a short, familiar song (e.g. "Happy Birthday"). Chamber music is played in small groups, one instrument per part, & originally took place in someone’s living room (“chamber”). Traditionally it was not done by professionals, but by students & amateur performers just for fun!  Playing in a chamber ensemble is a great way to improve skills through listening, conducting, sight-reading, communication, & leadership, not to mention meeting fellow students who play other instruments!
