Training for recorder teachers in the philosophy and pedagogy of the highly successful Suzuki Method. Faculty: Mary Halverson Waldo

SAA PRACTICUM UNIT™ IN RECORDER Sun, July 8-Fri, July 13
Explore the art of teaching! Topics include communication skills, teaching strategies, diagnostics and observation. Teachers bring video recordings (VHS or DVD) of their lessons and also teach “live” students. Unit 1 teacher training includes 28 hours of class instruction and 15 hours of observation. The Practicum includes 15 hours of class instruction and 8 hours of observation.

FOR STUDENTS
STUDENT SESSION
Join recorder students from around the world for master & group classes, play-in, faculty concert, final student concert. Non-Suzuki students welcome with advance notice. Ages 5 to adult, beginners to advanced. Parent must accompany children 8 & under.

ENRICHMENT

Chamber Music Workshop
This summer music workshop is offered in collaboration
with the Suzuki Institute. Experience playing in small
ensembles without a conductor. Work with professionals
to develop your skills.

(special times for Suzuki Institute students)

- Special discounted tuition for Suzuki Institute students: $150
- Ages 9 to Teens (entering Grades 4-12 in the fall)
- Prerequisite: ability to read music

Faculty: Adam Roszkiewicz (guitar), Tomiko Hamai (woodwinds), Carrie Campbell (theory, French horn), Daniel Wood (digital arts, French horn), Alla Dobrish (piano). With special guest instructor Patrick O’Malley (recorder, harpsichord).
